Natural, wholesome ingredients
The quality of the raw ingredients selected by MILBURN’S™ is key to what makes our food unique. We use as few ingredients as possible and those that we do use are there because they have health benefits for pets. There are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and we only use ingredients we'd be happy to feed to our own pets.
A single source of meat
MILBURN’S™ produce naturally hypoallergenic, low-risk food. We also avoid wheat, dairy products and soya and our foods contain only natural anti-oxidants.
Clear ingredients lists
Our top tip for choosing a food for your pet is to always read the labels carefully. Labelling regulations mean that everything is not always as straightforward as it might appear - the fact that ‘lamb’ is in the name of the food doesn’t necessarily mean that lamb is the only meat, or that it is there at more than four per cent. We list all our ingredients individually because we have nothing to hide, and because we believe that you should know exactly what you are feeding to your pets at all times.
Superb Value Dog Food Without Compromise
MILLBURN'S™ super premium dog food can often work out cheaper then feeding popular wet foods with a 12kg bag containing 30 days of feeding with an average monthly feeding cost of only £34.99p*
We keep our prices low by avoiding expensive packaging, branding, TV ads & promotions. Instead we concentrate on the quality within each and every bag of MILBURN’S™. Digest, Salmon Oil, Minerals and Vitamins
||Fresh salmon sourced from the Scottish Highlands. We use only salmon products which are fully traceable, derived entirely from materials fit for human consumption and which are acceptable to the very stringent control measures imposed by the quality UK supermarket chains. Salmon is an excellent protein source, and is high in omega-3 fatty acids.
||A great source of non-meat protein and is a healthy carbohydrate source, which balances the amino acids in the meat/fish proteins. Potato is probably the most digestible source of carbohydrate that is commercially available for pet food production. It is used in the Sensitive and Premium recipes and provides an alternative carbohydrate source for dogs with special dietary needs. Potato is an excellent source of the vitamins C & B6 as well as potassium which is good for immunity and energy production
||Concentrated source of protein and a few fatty acids
||Helps to reduce digestive upset in sensitive stomaches
||Is a natural source of carbohydrate, providing an excellent source of dietary fibre.
||A wholesome, energy packed cereal with plenty of soluble fibre. Oats are a good source of energy and protein, as well as being rich in fat, minerals and vitamins E and B.
||For essential fatty acids
||An excellent cereal-free source of protein and energy. Peas are a good source of vitamin K1, folic acid and vitamin B6
||Good source of both soluble and insoluble fibre. The soluble fibre is a good food source for the friendly bacteria in the large intestine. It also slows the rate of food passage through the gut ensuring a preferential transit time of food, leading to maximum digestion and absorption of nutrients. The insoluble fibre increases peristalsis, helps an animal to feel satisfactorily full and provides a crunchy texture to the kibbles to aid oral hygiene. Fibre is important for maintaining normal gastrointestinal transit time and motility and cats and dogs with stomach upsets can be found eating grass or other vegetation, possibly in the attempt to soothe their gut with increased fibre. A quality fibre source in the correct proportion may help to reduce the incidence of conditions such as diabetes mellitus and obesity. It may also help to prevent constipation and diarrhoea.
||A yummy bit of salmon gravy spray to enhance palatability made from quality salmon ingredients
||Fish oil (from salmon) is included in the recipes for energy, as a source of essential fatty acids and for the transport of the fat-soluble vitamins. Fish oil provides an excellent supply of the omega-3 fatty acids, and in the human health context their benefits are well documented. They may prevent or reduce the chance of developing coronary heart disease and may also help to reduce high blood pressure. Omega-3s are of special benefit to those suffering from kidney disorders, inflammatory bowel syndrome and autoimmune disease due to their natural anti-inflammatory properties. These health benefits are now gaining better recognition in the nutrition of our canine and feline companions.

Feeding The Correct Amount
It is important to remember however that these figures are guidelines only, and there are several factors to be taken into account when assessing your pet's nutritional requirements : -
- Activity level
- Temperament (stressed animals burn off more calories than relaxed ones)
- Metabolism (every animal is an individual with his or her own speed of metabolism; this means that 2 dogs of the same age, breed and weight could have different daily calorie requirements)
In order to provide the correct portions when feeding your dog or cat, it is also helpful to assess your pet's appetite, visual appearance and stools. Whilst poo watching does not sound particularly pleasant, it is one of the best indicators of health. Increased frequency of passing faeces, production of large quantities of stools of loose motions are often frequent signs that an animal is receiving more food than he or she requires.
It is important to obtain an accurate weight for your cat or dog, and also to weigh out the food. Guessing on both accounts gives a large margin of error.
Changing Food Brands
For a successful diet change, we recommend following the feeding pattern below. The daily feeding amount should be split into two equal amounts and the proportions of new food increased over the first week as illustrated.
TOP TIPS: For those dogs who do not make eating a priority, here are some additional points:
- Reduce the number of tit-bits given during the introductory period
- If your dog has been used to eating wet food, moisten with warm water.
