I have two of these in two different sizes - one for our average sized cat and a larger one for our enormous Norwegian Forest cat. They are so much better than standard plastic cat carriers.
For a start, the handles are more sturdy and the shoulder strap means you can free your hands if necessary for opening doors etc whilst carrying.
The fact that the cats have a lots of fresh air and a lot of visibility through the mesh also helps to keep them calm when travelling. They can see you sitting near them in the car/in the vet waiting room and they can smell you if you put your hand against the mesh. This helps to reassure them.
I love the fact that you can choose whether to put the cats in via the top opening or the side. We tend to open the top to put them in the carrier and then open the bottom one when they are coming out. It means they can walk straight out of their own accord without being lifted again.
If find that these carriers are far easier to secure in a car with a seatbelt too.
They are incredibly study and also incredibly easy to fold flat.
