We'd just had some new glass doors fitted with staywell manual flap and unfortunately kept having an unwanted visitor eating our cats food and spraying in the house. Luckily this flap fitted the hole perfectly and even though the hole had metal fittings it didn't affect the operation of the reader at all. It was really easy to install and program both the cats into it. The cats were slightly unsure about the beep and the porch but we turned the beep off and they got used to it very quickly. The first pet porte I had broke from another company but this one I have, I must stress is far better made and durable and I am very pleased with it and it didn`t cost me as much.

I checked the chip number on the Petporte website and it says it works well with this cat flap. I also tested it with the cat before fitting the thing to the door.
Our cat is fully grown but not very big, and we have a step outside the door.
This means the cat lifts her head up to the door to hop in.
This cat flap senses from above the flap so as our cat has to strech her neck a bit to push the flap it takes several goes for the flap to sense the chip to enable her get in.
This is a problem when bigger cats chase her.
I have had to build a platform outside the door and still this morning I heard our cat bounce off the cat flap trying to escape a bigger cat.
Keep the packaging when you fit this. You may want to send it back.

Couldn`t recommend highly enough, my partner was able to fit this from scratch within half an hour. Our cat has never used a flap before but after a few days was coming and going quite happily- the click as flap unlocks did scare him at first but he soon became used to it. We have it plugged into mains so not sure what its battery consumption would be like. Price was good and also got more money off as a 1st time user of pet supermarket!

A very clever design but let down by poor build quality. Not easy to install but does keep persistent neighbours cat (and dog!) out. If the power goes will lock out (defaults to open or as programmed) and you have to take battery out to reset.
