Many cats develop temporary or chronic kidney problems at some point in their life, and during this time, they'll need a little extra support from their food. If your cat has been diagnosed with renal issues, Eukanuba Cat Veterinary Diet renal formula can be a great way to get them back on their feet.

What it's for

Some cats are more prone to kidney problems than others, whether that's due to their age or breed. Kidney issues are common in all breeds of older cat, but are particularly common in Maine coon, Persian, Siamese and Burmese cats of all ages.

If your cat has been vet-diagnosed with kidney or renal issues, they'll need a different kind of food that puts less pressure on the kidneys. These vital organs have critical jobs to do like managing blood pressure, making hormones and removing waste from the bloodstream. Speak to your vet about replacing your cat's old food with this special formula for up to six months after their diagnosis.

Key benefits

  • designed specifically for cats with vet-diagnosed kidney issues
  • fatty acids and special Nitrogen Trap® Fibre System makes filtration easier
  • low in phosphorus to slow conditions down
  • omega-3 and -6 lower hypertension and inflammation
  • balanced protein levels reduce kidney pressure
  • fibre and prebiotics aid digestion

How it works

Having your cat diagnosed with renal problems can sound alarming, but they can be successfully and comfortably managed with the right diet. This special formula uses Eukanuba's special Nitrogen Trap® Fibre System. It’s designed to take pressure off the kidneys by trapping nitrogen and preventing it being filtered by the renal system. Reduced phosphorus minerals and controlled protein levels also reduce the strain on your cat's organs, while the fatty omega-3 and -6 acids assist with the filtration cycle and reduce the risk of high blood pressure problems.

  • So Far So Good,
Ordered Eukanuba Renal Dry after researching and checking reviews. Order arrived this morning, put a few bits out and cat went straight to it and ate it all. She is normally fussy on wet food but as far as taste is concerned, this seems to fit the bill. Although knowing cats, don't really want to speak too soon. Hope it helps her problem. .

  • A brilliant food.
My Cats gobbled these up quickly. It's great as it helps clean tartar and helps my eldest Cats Kidneys. No problems so far.

  • Fab food
This purina is a lot better than the hills my cat had she was getting feed up with only two flavours so we went for this one and she just can't wait for feed time.

  • Not very appetising .
Our cat is 17 and has had renal problems for 2 years she has tried different foods and we have to keep changing brands and flavours.this tinned type did not suit her as it was mashed, clearly not appetising and we had to mix it with a taste of meaty catfood non renal to encourage her to eat it. Having to buy such a large quantity made it expensive to waste and we have much left over!

  • I got my cat from the RSPCA. She was about 4 years old. The following summer she was diagnosed with bad kidneys. She took the tablets for 3 weeks and then refused any more tablets or any type of food (including fresh fish and chicken!). I tried this in dried form. She is now 19 and her last blood/urine tests show clear kidneys. Worth every penny.
