When to use it
It can sometimes be difficult to spot weight changes in cats, especially in breeds with long coats or naturally larger frames. Alongside an increase in body fat, symptoms of excess weight or obesity can be a lack of energy, exhaustion, or limping, as joints and limbs are placed under more stress. It can cause discomfort and pain, as well as further health problems such as diabetes, liver disease and arthritis, so contact your vet for more information and advice on treatment if you notice any of these symptoms.
They may recommend Hill's Prescription Diet Feline Metabolic as part of a weight loss programme and as a preventative measure to ensure that your cat's weight stays off. A short-term course can yield impressive results but a prolonged treatment may be required for more serious cases. Reduced body fat will lead to improved mood, health and a better quality of life for your cat.
Because veterinary diets are formulated for the nutritional support of pets with specific clinical conditions, we recommend that you only use them under professional advice. For more information on feeding Hill's Prescription Diet Feline Metabolic to your cat, please consult your veterinary surgeon.

Hills Prescription Diet Feline MetabolicMy cat certainly likes these biscuits at the moment, and I am hoping that will continue . But often I find that she suddenly dislikes some of the different biscuits I might offer her over the week. Though several weeks later, I do find she is often eager to accept them once more.
Excellent quality cat foodI have been buying this food for my cat who needs to loose a few pound, on the recommendation of my vet. It is really good, my cat lives it and it really works. She is gradually losing weight, but you do have to weigh the portions out as recommended on the bag. I buy the large bag which lasts a long time. Would definitely recommend, Thank you.

Quality productMy big cat eats this with no worries and it does work.
Mixed with i/d for better tasteMy fussy mog wasn’t too keen on switching to this from her beloved Hills i/d, so I just added a little into the i/d each day, gradually increasing the proportion. Now she eats about 2/3 metabolic to 1/3 i/d. I had to gradually reduce the quantity as well, before she lost weight. I had to reduce it gradually, otherwise she became very anxious and started weeing everywhere. My vet says that’s unusual, but I think she gets flashbacks of starving on the street, before she was rescued by the RSPCA. So my advice is to change the diet gradually, if your cat is nervous. She’s slimmer and happier now, after a year!
