Product details

Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d is designed to help dogs with kidney disease get all the nourishment they need.

How it works

Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d has been shown to help kidney function and slow down the progress of kidney disease, giving your dog a happy life. The small amount of high-quality protein helps your dog to stay strong and healthy without putting any strain on the kidneys. It's low in sodium, too, so even less work for the kidneys. The recipe is packed with antioxidants. These fight free radicals – the molecules in your dog's system that can attack healthy cells and increase the speed of the disease.

This food is designed to replace your pet's regular meals for the rest of their life. Veterinary diets like this one have been specially made to support pets with specific medical conditions. Because of this, they might not be suitable for all pets, so we'd recommend getting professional advice before feeding them to your pet. If you think your dog could benefit from eating Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d, why not have a chat with your vet?

Key benefits

  • gives your dog a happier, healthier life by slowing down their kidney disease
  • eases the symptoms of kidney problems helps the kidneys and heart do their jobs
  • boosts their appetite
  • has small doses of high-quality protein to keep your dog healthy
  • low sodium
  • high in antioxidants
  • replaces normal dog food.

What it's for

The kidneys do a very important job in your dog's body. They take waste out of the bloodstream and manage fluid levels. As soon as you notice symptoms of kidney disease, such as thirstiness, peeing a lot, losing weight, really bad breath, being sick, runny diarrhoea, sore mouth, tiredness, a dull coat and depression, you need to take them straight to the vet. Even if they don't have kidney disease, these symptoms can be signs of other nasty problems. This is really important if your dog is seven years or older, as dogs of this age are more likely to develop problems with their kidneys.

Eating properly can help to slow down the disease. Your dog needs to eat less protein, phosphorus and salt. No more human food! Especially not doggy favourites like hard cheese, ham and peanut butter (these are really high in those minerals).

  • The dog eats it rather than the dry food.
I brought this to help the dog as she was not liking the dry food .Disappointed that I could not buy two trays of food without paying a hefty carriage charge.

  • So far so good with our old boy
Our 14 year old collie cross started to drink more and wee more - getting caught short a few times - so we had him tested. He was shown to have kidney disease and so we tried Royal Canin dried and wet, which he ate, but he seemed to get an upset stomach after a few days. Then we tried the Hills k/d wet food which he eats without problems and has been on it for about a month. He is drinking less and not having problems getting through the night without weeing anymore. The high quality protein seems to have had a beneficial effect on his weakening back legs too, improving mobility slightly, so very happy. Having it delivered with Ocado is also easy and free.

  • It's ok
Bought this has our boy didn't like another brand.. He initially seemed to eat it. It did seem a better consistency but he decided he wasn't eating much of this one either. He does eat the kibble now either with or without water added.... Fussy dog

  • Excellent for kidney disease older dogs
My old dog has to eat a kidney diet. The texture of the meat in these tins has kept her interested in her food where others haven’t.
