When to use it
It can sometimes be difficult to spot weight changes in cats, especially in breeds with long coats or naturally larger frames. Alongside an increase in body fat, symptoms of excess weight or obesity can be a lack of energy, exhaustion, or limping, as joints and limbs are placed under more stress. It can cause discomfort and pain, as well as further health problems such as diabetes, liver disease and arthritis, so contact your vet for more information and advice on treatment if you notice any of these symptoms.
They may recommend Hill's Prescription Diet Feline Metabolic as part of a weight loss programme and as a preventative measure to ensure that your cat's weight stays off. A short-term course can yield impressive results but a prolonged treatment may be required for more serious cases. Reduced body fat will lead to improved mood, health and a better quality of life for your cat.
Because veterinary diets are formulated for the nutritional support of pets with specific clinical conditions, we recommend that you only use them under professional advice. For more information on feeding Hill's Prescription Diet Feline Metabolic to your cat, please consult your veterinary surgeon.

Does the JobWe put our cat on this food when another didn’t work. He needed to lose 2kg. He’s a big cat anyway but he’d got way too big. After 9 months on it he’s lost half of it and is doing very well. He also loves this food and would eat bowls full of it all day given half the chance! It’s also very good for throwing around so he has to chase it or find it, so he gets some exercise.
Hills diet foodThis food has been perfect for my cat won't eat anything else at all. Vet recommended to help reduce weight. Highly recommended would not buy anything else
Hills Prescription Diet Metabolic Weight Management Dry Cat Foodmy cat certainly enjoys eating the food but I don't think it helps her lose weight. Unfortunately, she very rarely wants to go outside for any exercise and seems to be lying down most of the time, so I know why she isn't slimming at all!
Best diet food I've triedTwo of my cats are prone to putting on weight, but they seem to find many 'diet' foods bland and soon lose interest. These biscuits seem tasty enough to keep them coming back. I followed the feeding guide, and slowly but surely, both achieved their target weight.
Hill products are the bestHaving been using these products since forever..essential to my cat's happiness and welfare.
