Royal Canin Canine Hepatic
Royal Canin Canine Hepatic’s specially designed to help keep your dog’s liver in good condition while providing all the nutrition they need for a healthy life.
What it’s for
If your vet has told you that your dog is suffering from ‘active hepatitis’, this means that their liver is inflamed. Some breeds are more at risk of liver problems than others, including male Cocker Spaniels and Bedlington Terriers. Female dogs also tend to be more at risk from ‘copper storage disease’, where the liver holds an abnormal build-up of copper. Keep an eye out for symptoms including weight loss, a lack of appetite, seizures, or vomiting, as these can be signs that your dog has hepatitis.
If you spot any of these, make sure to take your furry friend to the vets for a check-up. Active hepatitis and copper storage disease means it can be difficult for your dog to retain protein, which is essential for building lean muscles to keep them active. It can also cut your pet’s liver function by up to 70%, making it hard for them to digest food. It’s therefore really important to feed your pet easily digestible meals that are high in energy.
- low in copper, keeping build-up in the liver to a minimum
- vegetable protein makes it easy for your dog to digest
- high in antioxidants, which help fight ‘free radicals’
- high energy ingredients which won’t strain your dog’s digestion
- added vitamins to support the immune system.
How it works
The ingredients in Royal Canin Canine Hepatic are carefully chosen to help your dog stay healthy and happy while living with a hepatic liver condition.
The recipe’s full of nutritious vegetable protein to help your dog's digestive system process their meals more easily – meaning it’ll be easier for them to keep their energy levels up. Copper storage disease could make things worse if your dog is already diagnosed with a hepatic condition, so copper levels are kept as low as possible.
The blend of vitamins C, E, B, B1 and B6, along with antioxidants, supports your dog’s natural defences. Antioxidants are important in your pet’s diet because they help fight ‘free radicals’. Untreated free radicals attack other healthy cells and can lead to further illnesses over time.
Veterinary diets like this one have been specially made to support pets with specific medical conditions. Because of this, they might not be suitable for all pets, so we'd recommend getting professional advice before feeding them to your pet. If you think your dog could benefit from eating Royal Canin Canine Hepatic, why not have a chat with your vet?
If your dog's over six months old, keep their mouth healthy too with Vet Aquadent – it's carefully formulated to fight tartar and plaque and reduce bad breath.

My dog is not interested in food - but eats thisToby was born with a liver condition and his diet is dull and limited. This biscuit sometimes soaked in a bit of ‘safe’ gravy breaks up the monotony and is eaten with more relish than the alternative tin foods.
Hepatic Dry FoodMy Jack Russell dog has liver problems and has taken the change in diet very well. Also available is the wet version of this product, both very good. Well priced and excellent delivery service. I would recommend this company as a trusted and reliable resource for your pets. Excellent range of products available.
Hepatic wet foodMy old dog is on this for high ALT reading on his blood tests plus slightly enlarged liver on ultrasound last time. Although it doesn't look appealing he will eat it . Cheaper on this site than buying from the vet plus I don't have to carry it home.
Great foodExcellent food seems to suit my dog at Vets’s recommendation
