Royal Canin Dachshund Adult
Royal Canin Dachshund Adult is the perfect food choice for the all-round health of your adult Dachshund.
What it's for
Everyone loves a sausage dog, but to keep your super cute pet healthy there are some specific things you need to take into account. Because your Dachshund's body is so long in comparison to their size, their spine can be under more stress than other breeds – especially if your dog loves jumping and bouncing about.
One of the common Dachshund back issues you might hear mentioned is intervertebral disk disease, a condition that can make it harder for your pet to move about normally. Luckily, there's a lot you can do to reduce your dog's risk of developing problems by feeding them a diet designed especially for Dachshunds. It's also really important to make sure your dog stays at a healthy weight by giving them plenty of exercise.
If you do notice that your pet's having trouble moving any of their limbs, or seems to have pain around their neck, the best thing to do is to take them to the vet as soon as possible for a check-up.
- gives your Dachshund the best combination of nutrients for their breed
- glucosamine and vitamins help bones and joints stay healthy
- plenty of antioxidants help your dog's immune system stay strong
- high in protein to develop healthy muscles
- kibble contains calcium chelators, which help stop tartar forming on your dog's teeth.
How it works
Dachshunds are definitely small and perfectly formed, so to keep them that way this food is made of 28% protein. This is a mixture of animal and plant protein and helps your dog's muscles stay healthy and toned.
A good variety of vitamins and minerals along with a substance called glucosamine looks after the health of your dog's bones and joints, working to keep them strong and supple. Antioxidants are really important to help your dog fight off infection and neutralise nasty free radicals, so the food contains green tea and grape extract to do these jobs. Without them, free radicals can damage your dog's cells and lead to illnesses such as kidney infections.
Molecules called calcium chelators are brilliant for your dog's teeth and help keep them healthy by fighting tartar. And at the other end of your dog's body, high quality ingredients like soya and fish oil help cut down on the smell when your dog goes to the toilet.
