Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Renal Special Adult Dry Cat Food
Product details
Royal Canin Veterinary Feline Renal Special RSF26 is designed for cats with kidney disease.
What it's for
When your kitty's kidneys are healthy they filter the blood and get rid of nasty waste. If the kidneys get damaged, they can stop removing waste and toxins properly. This can make your cat seriously ill, so it's really important to get to the vet straight away if you notice any signs of kidney damage.
Signs to look out for are: drinking or urinating more than usual, losing a lot of weight, eating less, being poorly and having diarrhoea. Kidney disease is more common in older cats, but younger cats can suffer from it too.
If your vet diagnoses your cat with kidney disease there are a few treatment options. They might offer medication or put them on a special diet like this one.
Key benefits
- has all the nutrients your pet needs for a healthy life plus added ones to support the kidneys
- low phosphorus and top-quality proteins are easy on the kidneys
- low in calcium and vitamin D so kidney stones are less likely to form
- smells and tastes yummy – great if your cat's lost their appetite.
How it works
Cats with kidney disease have very special dietary needs. This food has all the ingredients they would normally need to live a healthy life, with added nutrients to help support their kidneys.
It's important to limit the amount of phosphorus your cat eats if they have kidney disease. This food only has a small amount. It also uses high-quality protein so that the kidneys don't have to work too hard to filter it. The perfect combination of nutrients help the kidneys filter waste more effectively. It also has less calcium and vitamin D than most cat foods, making it harder for painful kidney stones to form.
Some cats lose their appetite when they have kidney disease. This food has been designed to smell and taste irresistible. Even fussy cats and cats with low appetites will be happy to tuck in!
Veterinary diets like this one have been specially made to support pets with specific medical conditions. Because of this, they might not be suitable for all pets, so we'd recommend getting professional advice before feeding them to your pet. If you think your cat could benefit from eating Royal Canin Veterinary Feline Renal Special RSF26, why not have a chat with your vet?
