Product details

The SureFlap Microchip Pet Door Connect uses your pet’s existing microchip like an electronic door key to allow them to come and go from the home without leaving doors and windows open. The included hub and app mean that the permissions of the door be controlled on your phone, wherever you are!

The included hub is connected to your home router with the included Ethernet cable and gives you wireless control. You can receive notifications when your pet leaves or enters the home, lock and unlock the door via time scheduling or manually. It provides alerts when a neighbourhood pet tries to access your home and it offers insights to your furry friend’s behaviour. To use the hub, you are required to have iOs9 or later and Android 4.4 or later. The app requires you to be connected to the internet (mobile or wireless broadband).

Note that the Sureflap Pet Door Connect doesn’t allow you to programmes different curfews for different pets. If the door is unlocked, all of your pets can exit the home.

When installing into glass, the SureFlap Mounting Adapter is required. This is because glass requires a circular hole. The mounting adapter ensures that the flap fits into the glass correctly with no gaps. The adapter can also be used when installing into a wall as it leaves a smooth and clean finish.

If installing into a wall, you may require a SureFlap Tunnel Extender. The tunnel extender creates a longer approach tunnel for thicker walls. Each extender adds 50mm of length.

Additional Information

Installation Instructions:

The presence of a metal plate in an installation location can influence the performance of the DualScan Microchip Cat Flap, reducing the range of the microchip reader.

This includes the following:

  • Metal skin doors
  • Security doors
  • Metal garage doors
  • UPVC coated metal doors
  • Metal frames around a wall installation

For most situations you will not notice anything, as the read range will still be sufficient for the majority of microchips. However, if you experience intermittent operation or failure to open for your cat, first check for the presence of a metal plate in your installed location.

Note: UPVC coated metal doors often look the same as standard UPVC doors and you may need to look carefully where the panel has been cut. If a metal plate is confirmed, follow the instructions below for improved read range.

If there is metal present, you will need to cut a larger hole in your door, leaving a gap of 2-3cm (1-1.2”) between the tunnel of the cat flap and the metal in your door. To begin with, trace around the outer edge of the back frame as a size guide. Now mark your cutting line 1cm (0.3”) inside the line you have traced around the back frame, leaving the screw holes in place. Cut this hole and reinstall the cat flap. If you still experience intermittent operation you will need to increase the size of the hole again, in this case you will require the cat flap mounting adaptor. Once you have the mounting adaptor, trace around the circumference of the mounting adaptor as a guide. Now mark a circle approximately 2cm inside the line from the mounting adaptor, again leaving the indentations for the screw holes. Cut this hole and then reinstall the cat flap again. This will extend the read range further and should resolve any issues with mounting in a metal door.

  • Adapter recommended here is WRONG
I ordered the SureFlap Mounting Adapter linked to from this page with this pet flap - the adapter too small and the correct product isn't available. The AWFUL customer service process requires that you send a picture; clearly reading the information on their own website isn't possible.

  • Terrible battery life
The battery life on this is, as another reviewer states, absolutely terrible and more along the lines of six weeks. Six months is a totally misleading statement. Otherwise fine except for a few meltdowns in the app resulting in notification bombardments and other weirdness.

  • Brilliant and fun.
This is absolutely amazing. Can keep track of cat’s in and outs from anywhere. It even says if another cat looked in the catflap. I would definitely recommend this catflap or small dog flap. It says which cat is out or in and if another animal looks in it says an animal looked in. Peek a boo!

  • Quite Annoyingly difficult to get working properly
I was really looking forward to getting this new bit of kit for our cats... my husband said it was relatively straightforward to install (we just had to increase the size of the existing hole to accommodate it, it was however super difficult to get everything synced up it is also a bit of a pain having to find yet another socket for the hub and receiver to be plugged into - it needs to be connectable to the flap by WiFi! The flap itself is a fabulous size and is very flush with the door. Being able to control it from the app is great and (mostly) knowing where my cats are is great, however if they go out without using the flap or vice versa the flap does not register that exit or entry if they come back in/go out through it.... if that makes sense!?

  • I love it, gives piece of mind & works beautifully
Having lost a few cats from night time drivers when I was growing up, I always make sure that I keep my cats in at night. But sometimes, when you're out in the day and not back until super late, not being able to lock off the cat flap and check up on my little ones can be a slighty worry. This cat flap has saved the day. It replaced an old cheapy Petmate one, and is so much better made. It's taken a while getting the cats used to the flap and getting them to learn to use it again, but it was worth that minor pain. The app is great and I've experienced nothing like one of the other reviewers, it's easy to setup and keeps track of the cats really well. I love the little cat hub that mieows when you little ones head off, and when you change the batteries it just syncs up without any need to do it all again. The only issue I've noticed is with Microchips. One of my cats is microchipped and the other isn't, so one uses the RFID tag and the other relys on the Microchip. The microchipped kitty doesn't always register when going out. It thankfully seems better for coming in, but I guess the microchip which is 8 years old, doesn't cover much distance so the cat doesn't always get acknowledged that it's wanting to go out. Easy fix though, I'll just get the Sureflap RFID tag as it seems a lot more sensitive. Overall I debated the cost of it all, it's an expensive cat flap. But having got it on a deal for around £107 all in, I took a leap and I haven't regretted it at all. In fact, if I'd paid the full £155 I'd still be happy as it's just so nice having that piece of mind and getting notifications of what your cats up to. One thing Sureflap should do, is offer the service to get the tags engraved, then they'd only need one tag on their collar.
