Product details

Royal Canin Maxi Light Weight Care has been developed especially for large breed dogs who are prone to gaining weight.

How it works

This product has been formulated to help your dog achieve their ideal weight through providing 21% fewer calories per serving than a standard dog food. The high protein content will help your dog maintain their muscle tone, while a low fat recipe works to stop them gaining excess weight.

It can be difficult to keep your dog feeling full when they're on a weight loss diet, so the food is created with this in mind. A special blend of fibres will help your dog feel full more quickly to discourage overeating, making it easier to stick to the diet and maintain weight loss as they achieve it.

The food also contains vitamins and minerals to maintain healthy bones and joints, which is especially important in large breed dogs with more weight to support than their smaller counterparts.

Key benefits

  • decreased calorie content makes it easy for your dog to lose excess weight
  • high protein and low fat content promotes muscle tone and fights fat
  • designed to help your dog feel full
  • recipe formulated to support healthy bones and joints.

When to use it

Weight gain can often happen gradually, and can be especially hard to notice if your dog is large already. If your dog is prone to gaining weight, is panting more, or struggles to exercise for very long, it might benefit them to change their diet.

By feeding your pet a product with a high protein and low fat content, you should soon see them losing fat and gaining muscle tone. Alongside this, it will help their weight, muscle, and general fitness level to build up a gradual programme of exercise. Maintaining both diet and exercise once your dog has reached their target weight is then important to keep them fit, happy and healthy in the long term.

Large breed dogs, especially those who have been overweight in the past, can be prone to bone and joint issues. Feeding a diet designed for large breeds and regularly monitoring your dog's weight are the best and easiest steps you can take to guard against any arising problems.

  • Does exactly what it says it does. Our chocolate lab is now lighter, healthier and happier. He was struggling a bit with his back legs now that he is 12 years old, but the weight loss has enabled him to go back out for daily walks and playing around with his ball. Totally recommend this food, its made a huge difference to Alfie's day. He eats every little bit and I use them as the odd treat during the day. The vet put us onto Royal Canin and I am very glad she did.

  • This food is so good, that i`m not sure if it is gonna help my dog to keep the weight off as she would do anything to get more and more. She doesn`t want any treats, just a handfull of royal canine will do. of course i`m trying not to give her more, than i should, cause i want her to be healthy, but it is so great to see how much she is enjoying it. I bought it when it was on offer and i`m thinking of buying another pack as I think it is really a good value and is full of goodness. Would recommend it for ev

  • I`ve been feeding this food to our Border Collie since he was a puppy and it is the only dry food he`ll have! We`ve tried other known brands, but he`ll literally take it and spit it out elsewhere when you`re not looking.
Whenever we get asked what we feed him, we always get told that`s very good quality food, whether it`s a vet or a fellow dog owner.
The food smells very meaty, which might be why he can`t resist it (not to mention other dogs that sometimes visit us). It is very well balanced, maki
